WUKY, where NPR Rocks @ 91.3, was the first university-owned FM radio station in America, and Kentucky’s first public radio station.
We’re licensed to the University of Kentucky, but “owned” by the people of Lexington, who support us with their pledges & financial contributions. We serve Lexington and much of central Kentucky with 100,000 watts. We stream our signal to the world, too, at www.wuky.org.
We air a diverse schedule on our main channel. Ours news programming, hosted by local personalities, comes from NPR and our own award-winning newsroom. Our music is Triple A (also known as Adult Rock or Progressive Music), and it is brought to you, live, by DJs who live in Lexington. Our locally-produced specialty music shows encompass Women’s Music, Americana, Blues, World Music, and just plain good Rock & Roll. There’s humor, arts and culture here too. WUKY also broadcasts two channels in HD.
