March Madness Marching Band wants YOU.
We're Lexington, KY's volunteer moving music and dance sensation! Local First Lexington is proud to sponsor this group because making Lexington a more vibrant place isn't all about business!
Haven't picked up your clarinet since high school? Forgot how to read music? That's OK! Our musical geniuses can give you some easy-to-learn parts of the arrangements, and you can dance down the street for most of the parade. (More highly skilled musicians needed, too!)
Don't play an instrument you can carry in a parade? Afraid of heights and not about to walk on stilts? Can't twirl a baton to save your life? Yeah, me either. We need loads of creative help making signs and fashioning costumes, plus shiny, happy people to carry signs and flags during parades.
HISTORY
March Madness launched a dazzling marching band to represent Local First Lexington in the downtown Christmas Parade (Nov. 29, 2008), in the tradition of... nothing this town has ever seen! A symphony of mismatched musical instruments; A kaleidoscope of band-inspired costumes; A choreographed gaggle of hoop dancers; An array of unconventional, unpredictable dancers and spinners. Each of us a piece of authentic Lexington, a delicious concoction from our quirky ingredients.
We glistened in the St. Patrick's Day Parade, deftly sidestepping sheep manure and rain puddles.
In April, we wowed the young-but-legal creative class with a performance at the Beaux Arts Ball... then kicked off the program at ellee ven's Give into the Groove.
